My passion for building was with me long before I even knew what path I wanted to take for my future. From the ripe old age of 5, I remember enjoying the necessary repairs my tricycle needed. As time went on spending my summers at the cottage building toy boats and go-carts, it still wasn’t apparent that carpentry chose me as opposed to me choosing it. At 14 I built my first functional project. A three point hydroplane racing boat that hit speeds of 30 knots with an 18 hp Johnson outboard from the 1950’s. My true lesson here wasn’t just my natural ability to build, but more so the importance of following detailed instructions written by experts. Whether it was rebuilding cars, engines, furniture, homes, carpentry, architecture, design, etc., learning from the experts will make your journey that much easier and with better results. Along the way you will not only become an expert yourself, but also create and develop your own techniques and ideas that may improve certain processes of your chosen industry.
